VANCOUVER ISLAND FISHING REGULATIONS: It is urged that regulations be studied prior to fishing, paying attention to river markers, salmon fishery bulletin postings, catch and release restrictions, etc.  A hatchery fish is one with a clipped adipose fin.

  1. GEAR RESTRICTIONS: All Creek and Rivers - single barbless hook only, no natural bait allowed.
  2. CUTTHROAT TROUT: Catch and release only in all rivers, creeks and streams from Oct 1st to May 31st and all cutthroat trout in saltwater areas.
  3. STEELHEAD TROUT: Catch and release only in all rivers, creeks and streams with the exception of hatchery fish in some rivers.  Steelhead tag necessary with licence.
  4. RIVER SALMON FISHERIES: Strictly regulated.  Primarily catch and release only.  Attention to supplemental bulletins in autumn strongly suggested.  Salmon tag necessary with licence.
